An 8-week evening course for beginners

Learn the traditional craft of jewellery making in a welcoming, creative workshop and discover the satisfaction of making beautiful silver jewellery by hand.

Over eight weekly evening sessions, you'll be guided through a series of carefully planned projects, learning the core techniques used by jewellers while building your confidence at the bench. From forming and soldering to texturing and polishing, each week introduces new skills as you create jewellery you'll be proud to wear.

Sterling silver is included for your guided projects during the first six weeks. In the final two weeks, you'll bring everything you've learnt together by designing and making your own final piece, with individual guidance from your tutor throughout.

Whether you're looking to learn a new skill, reconnect with your creativity or simply enjoy making something with your own hands, this course offers the time and space to slow down, learn at your own pace and discover the rewarding process of creating jewellery from scratch.

No previous experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to have a go.

Places are limited to keep the group small. Reserve your place with a £100 booking payment, which will be deducted from the total course fee of £395. The remaining balance is due two weeks before the course begins.

  • Duration: 8 sessions (one evening per week)

    Timing: Mondays 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

    Location: Our beautiful fully equipped jewellery studio

    Materials: All tools, silver and materials are provided for the set projects

    • Eight weekly evening sessions (22 hours of tuition)

    • Expert guidance throughout

    • Sterling silver for all guided projects

    • Use of professional jewellery tools and equipment

    • Tea, coffee and refreshments

    • A small, friendly group

  • Throughout the course you'll create a collection of sterling silver jewellery, including:

    • A silver ring

    • A pair of earrings

    • A pendant or brooch

    • Your own independently designed final piece

  • Throughout the course, you'll create a collection of sterling silver jewellery, including:

    • Week 1 – Make a sterling silver ring with a twist while learning the fundamentals, including soldering, forming, annealing, filing and finishing.

    • Week 2 – Explore different textures and surface finishes using techniques such as hammering, stamping and the rolling mill, creating a collection of samples to inspire your jewellery.

    • Weeks 3 & 4 – Design and make your own pair of sterling silver earrings or cufflinks, applying the textures and techniques you’ve learnt.

    • Weeks 5 & 6 – Create a pendant, brooch or lapel pin, learning piercing, layering and more advanced design techniques. We’ll also begin planning your final project.

    • Weeks 7 & 8 – Design and make your own final jewellery piece, putting everything you’ve learnt into practice with guidance and support from your tutor.

      The aim of the course is not only to make a lovely collection of jewellery, but to give you the confidence to understand the traditional techniques and begin designing your own pieces too.

  • This course is perfect for complete beginners, as well as anyone looking to refresh their skills in a supportive and inspiring environment.

    With small class sizes and plenty of individual tuition, you'll be encouraged to work at your own pace while developing confidence in traditional jewellery-making techniques.
